About
Hi, Iām Marika.
An Experienced Energy Practitioner
I am a Karuna Reiki Teacher and Advanced Practitioner.
Iāve been practicing reiki for over a decade and professionally since 2019. Since then, I have completed over 500 healing sessions for clients.
My reiki journey began as a teenager when I found that receiving Reiki sessions helped treat my depression and better understand my intuitive, sensitive nature. It opened up the possibility that there might be a place in the world for me and my gifts, but it would be a long time before I fully embraced them.
I studied advanced energy healing techniques at LightSong School of 21st Century Shamanism and Energy Medicine for four years. These courses gave me the tools and framework I use in my healing sessions. They are gentle yet powerful healing tools rooted in universal love and compassion.
I completed my World Peace Karuna Reiki training from William Lee Rand of the International Reiki Training Center (ICRT).
Iāve also taken classes in shamanic journeying, working with spirit guides, intuitive consulting, Kundalini Shakti, qigong, and healing meditation, all of which inform my work.
Creative Mixed Media Artist and Professional Bookbinder
I received my diploma in Hand Bookbinding from North Bennet Street School in Boston, MA.
Following this, I completed a series of book conservation apprenticeships (at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Harvard Graduate School of Design, and Dartmouth College). Then, I worked as a technician in the library book and paper conservation lab at Indiana University in Bloomington.
Before this, I received a BA from Reed College in Portland, OR, and spent several years working for different professional artists in Portland and Brooklyn.
Throughout this experience, I developed more and more elements of technical skill, familiarity with materials, and creativity that I draw from in my studio today.
In addition, I have:
Completed an Artist Residency at Makeshift Manufactory in Iowa City, IA
Studied Japanese Papermaking from Paul Denhoed at Paper and Book Intensive, MI
Studied Chinese Bookbinding History with Soren Edgren at Rare Book School, UVA
My work has been exhibited in group and solo shows, winning awards and funding my education. I've been featured in The Nipper, a journal on book arts, and have taught in-person book arts workshops to college students.
I have had a lifelong interest in textiles and am self-taught in embroidery, basic weaving, and working with natural dyes.
I blend these textile art practices with my craftsmanship skills and spiritual practice to create mixed media artwork with a spiritual healing focus.
Sacred Artisanship
Process is so interesting and important to me. How something is made, or how you become a new version of yourself, is just as significant as the end result.
Sacred Artisanship, the name of my business, came to me in a deep meditation as a way to express the importance of how we are being in the process of becoming.
To me, Sacred Artisanship represents being fully present and fully open to the Divine during the experience of making or becoming. It is a spiritual practice for me, and it is something I bring into my work both as an artist and energy healing practitioner.
My work holds high-frequency energies and opens a doorway to Spirit for you to step through and explore your own divine qualities.
More About Me: A Journey of Curiosity and Connection
I make art that creates space for people to pause and be taken inwards ā deeper into their own hearts, their own knowing, and ultimately, back out into the all-that-is. In this way, my work can be a doorway that opens into the wonderment of knowing the Divine.
My love for gardening and growing flowers, food, and dye plants is a reflection of my commitment to Creation and collaboration. I find great joy in this practice.
I like the quiet of working with Spirit, of being in solitude, and especially those quiet pauses in conversations that allow one to drop more deeply into their own being.
I used to travel and move around a lot and loved exploring new places, immersing myself in new cultures, and learning new languages.
Now, I take that curiosity and turn it inwards, towards exploring the unseen realms. These days, I am really interested in being rooted, getting to know one place through many seasons, and living harmoniously with the elements around me.
Iām a cat person and daydream about having a dog, some chickens, rabbits, and maybe goats one day.
